What are the  important questions? How do I get answers?

Defining the Question

Defining a question is more nuanced than it first appears to be:

Are soccer players more at risk of injury compared to hockey players?

  1. What does “injury” mean? Is it any physical complaint? Does it have to be seen by a medical doctor? Are you only interested in injuries that cause a player to miss a practice or game?

  2. What does soccer / hockey mean? Is it all ages combined? For hockey, some leagues allow body checking and some do not. Is it important to distinguish male versus female leagues or players?

Savoir Faire Consultants helps its clients identify and navigate through different possible nuances to important decision-making questions.

Obtaining Answers to Questions

The optimal methods to obtain answers to your questions depend on several factors.

  1. Analyze your data availability in the context of your needs.

  2. Examine other possible sources of information.

  3. Synthesize and analyze prior knowledge

After “answers” are obtained, the results need to be interpreted in light of assumptions made, including possible extrapolation to your specific context if necessary.

Savoir Faire Consultants has the expertise to effectively place your data and existing research at the fore of your decision-making processes and action plans.
